  • 17/06/2019

The 1st annual Retamar Science Fair was held last Friday, June 14th, and was a complete success!  The students of primary 5, primary 6 and 1st year of secondary school presented their science projects in the sports pavilion where fellow students, teachers and parents were invited to walk around and enjoy the wonderful expositions they have been working on throughout the school year.

The students of 1st year of secondary school presented the use of electrical circuits as a tool for learning. Primary 6 presented projects on topics related to the history of science. Primary 5 also presented important scientists of our history and their works, as well as experiments that followed the scientific method, exploring topics ranging from plant growth to chemical reactions, the effects of energy and many more.  Primary 5 also presented the hydroponics project which is done entirely in their Natural Science classes, in which they are responsible for plantings the seeds, transferring the plants to appropriate pods, scheduled watering and lighting of the plants, and making portable hydroponic systems to take home their final results.

As a special guest, we enjoyed the presence of the Aula de Educación Ambiental de Pozuelo de Alarcón, who brought virtual reality glasses, earphones for the hearing impaired, as well as a world of information concerning the work that they are doing in our community.

All in all, it has been a wonderful learning experience for us all and we congratulate all students involved for making it a very special day, we look forward to what our students will make of this event in the years to come.
